Find Cheap Eats in Farmington and Farmington Hills

A non-cook shares local deals that help keep her out of the kitchen.

Sometimes, you just have to own up to who you really are and make the most of it.  To paraphrase a certain former president, I'm not a cook. I have never enjoyed cooking, baking, frying, broiling, grilling or anything else that involves taking food from its natural form and turning it into something delicious. In fact, whenever I do any of those things, the result would likely not be described as "something delicious".  The smoke alarm is my oven timer, if you follow where I've drifted.  And because birds of a feather tend to flock together, the man I married also does not enjoy cooking – although his two specialty dishes, French onion soup and eggplant parmesan, can keep us dining in for days. Fun Family Summer: Saturday in the City

Downtown Farmington offers a festive day on the town for families.

Most Saturdays, you’ll find my family at the Farmington Farmers & Artisans Market.  Afterwards, we typically spend the day doing errands, working in the yard, and generally running ourselves ragged.  This week, we decided that instead of the Saturday mad dash, we would use the holiday weekend as our excuse to make a day of it in Farmington.  We started out in our traditional fashion, roaming the farmers market. We scored zucchini, beets, lettuce, and eggs, to name a few of our purchases. We visited with our friends at The Garden Gate Farm and Bellweather Farm.
