Beechview Elementary in Farmington Hills Closed Due to Power Outage

According to the DTE Energy website, 148 customers in the school's neighborhood are without power.

Students at Beechview Elementary are getting an extra day of winter vacation, as the school was closed Friday morning.  Farmington Public Schools spokesperson Diane Bauman said the building has only partial power and no heat. DTE Energy's outage map shows 148 customers in that area have been without power since 6:38 a.m. The outage affects an area north of 11 Mile, west of Greythorne Trail and east of La Muera.  Repair of the area outage is expected between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. Friday.  This is Beechview's second power outage this year; the school was closed Oct. 30 after high winds knocked out power for thousands of residents in Farmington and Farmington Hills.

Beechview Elementary in Farmington Hills Closed Due to Power Outage

High winds blowing through the area took out power for thousands of DTE customers Monday night.

Students at Beechview Elementary School have an unexpected day off Tuesday, thanks to the effects of Superstorm Sandy.  High winds knocked out power for thousands of DTE customers in Farmington and Farmington Hills Monday night, including 148 in and around the school's neighborhood on Westmeath Ct.  More than 600 customers in Farmington Hills remain without power Monday.
