Farmington Hills Ranks Among Nation's Safest Cities

The report issued by CQ Press and Sage Publications shows the city's ranking has dropped slightly from the 2012 report.

Although it has slipped a little in the rankings, Farmington Hills remains among the safest cities in Michigan and across the U.S., based on an annual national ranking.  According to a city press release, Farmington Hills was the 52nd safest among 432 cities listed in a report issued last week by CQ Press and Sage Publications. Rankings are based on 2011 crime data, compiled in the F.B.I’s Uniform Crime Reports for six crime categories: murder, rape, robbery, aggravated assault, burglary, and motor vehicle theft.  Of Michigan cities with populations over 75,000, Farmington Hills ranked behind Canton Township (33rd), Sterling Heights (34th) and Troy (36th), and ahead of Livonia (70th) and Ann Arbor (80th) in the top 100.  Last year, the …

Farmington Hills Remains Among State's Safest Cities

CQ Press ranks the city among the 50 safest large cities in the country and the third safest in Michigan.

For the second consecutive year, Farmington Hills is the third safest city in Michigan, according to Safe City rankings compiled late last year by CQ Press.  The list has been compiled annually since 2007 and ranks large U.S. cities based on reporting of serious crimes. It also places Farmington Hills among the 50 safest places to live in the country. Troy was ranked as Michigan's safest city. The rankings include all cities of at least 75,000 residents based on crime data reported to the FBI in 2010.
