Find out during an April 24 workshop in Farmington Hills how to give your pets their best shot at surviving a fire, flood or other emergency.
Because pets are an important part of many families, the Farmington Hills/Farmington Emergency Preparedness Commission is offering a free seminar April 24 to help Prepare Your Pets for Emergencies. Held at 6:30 p.m. at the Costick Center in Farmington Hills, the event is free of charge and there's no need to register. Local veterinarian Christian Ast will discuss how pets have been affected in recent disasters and will provide preparedness tips on how to increase your pet’s chances for survival.

The Farmington Hills/Farmington Emergency Preparedness Commission hosts classes in March and April.
Farmington-area residents have opportunities to learn more about how respond in an emergency, and how to see one coming, in free classes offered in March and April. The Farmington Hills/Farmington Emergency Preparedness Commission (EPC) will present a free series of Emergency and Disaster Response Training sessions every Wednesday from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m., March 13 to April 17 at the Costick Center in Farmington Hills. Know which items to stock and how to take cover when bad weather approaches.
With the recent warming trend, we have seen some serious thunderstorms, hail and even a tornado that touched down in Dexter, Michigan, damaging over 100 homes. This is very early in the year for tornadoes, but it can also show you that this could have easily hit the Farmington Hills area as well. Fortunately in Dexter, no deaths or serious injuries were reported, thanks in part to early warning notifications and the residents of that town being prepared ahead of time.
