The Farmington Hills/Farmington Emergency Preparedness Commission (EPC), in cooperation with the Farmington Hills Fire Department, will offer an American Red Cross CPR and AED (Automated External Defibrillator) class on June 13. Held from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m., the class is open to the public and will be held in the upstairs training room at Fire Station #4, 28711 Drake Road. A $10 fee will cover the cost of the class and materials, and $30 for those who require a Certificate of Training. Participants must be at least 12 years old. The first aid awareness training is hosted by the Farmington Hills/Farmington Emergency Preparedness Commission.
Injuries and medical emergencies happen without warning -- do you know how to respond? The Farmington Hills/Farmington Emergency Preparedness Commission (EPC) will sponsor a First Aid Awareness Class on Thursday, February 7 from 6:30 p.m.-9 p.m. at the Costick Center at 28600 Eleven Mile Road in Farmington Hills. The class will help you prepare for a medical emergency by providing a demonstration of what to do until first responders arrive or the victim can be transported. The class does not provide certification. Participants will rotate through one station every 15 minutes, with each subject taught by a first responder or first aid instructor. The Farmington Hills/Farmington Emergency Preparedness Commission (EPC) will present a free SKYWARN training program on Monday, April 30 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Costick Center, located at 28600 Eleven Mile Road between Middlebelt and Inkster. The main responsibility of a SKYWARN spotter is to identify and describe severe local storms. Information provided by SKYWARN spotters has enabled the National Weather Service to issue more timely and accurate warnings for tornadoes, severe thunderstorms, and flash floods.
