For hundreds of years, children have awoke on Easter morning and set about to look for their Easter basket filled with Easter eggs and whatever other goodies the Easter Bunny (not the “spring” bunny) hid the night before. It’s wasn’t a “spring” …   more ›

Santa Helps Farmington Area Jaycees Light 14-Foot Christmas Tree

A large crowd of excited children welcomed Santa to the Governor Warner Mansion Saturday.

After listening to children's wishes during Holly Days Saturday, Santa made a second visit in Farmington, at the Governor Warner Mansion. Santa helped the Farmington Area Jaycees light a 14-foot Christmas tree, donated by Trident Trees and on display in the Mansion's gazebo. Families ushered him into the gathering with a rousing chorus of "Santa Claus is Coming to Town," led by students from School of Rock in Farmington.  With the lighted tree behind them, Santa helped Jaycee Kristin Garstka read "A Visit From St. Nicholas ('Twas the Night Before Christmas)". He then moved to the mansion porch to listen to children's Christmas wishes.  During the evening, visitors lined up to take docent-led tours of the city-owned museum, which is …

Hundreds Turn Out for Farmington Jaycees Egg Hunt

Despite chilly weather, kids enjoy face painting, a bounce house, games and 'rolling' egg hunts in Heritage Park.

The Farmington Area Jaycees kept the fun moving Sunday afternoon during their annual Spring Egg Hunt, held at Heritage Park in Farmington Hills. As face painting, a raffle and other activities went on in and around the picnic shelter, egg hunts were held on playgrounds periodically between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. The Easter Bunny also made an appearance, riding in on a Farmington Hills Fire truck.  The event was so well attended that by 2:30 p.m., volunteers were directing vehicles into overflow parking in the main lot near the park's Visitors Center.  Did you get photos or video at the event?
