Faeries Gather at Grand Celebrations in Farmington

Metromix Detroit captures photos of the event that capped off the weekend's Faerie Gathering in and around downtown Farmington.

Farmington Area Weekend Events Include Concerts, Theater and Faeries

The Farmington Faerie Gathering is underway, with special events planned Friday and Saturday.

Look for faeries in and around downtown Farmington this weekend, during the Farmington Faerie Gathering. Events include a scavenger hunt that runs through Saturday, a Faerie Fayre at the Village Mall on Saturday and Faerie Teas and a Faerie Ball on Saturday. Show Off Your Wings at Farmington Faerie Ball

The dance caps three days of events that include a scavenger hunt, Faerie Fayre and teas.

A group of downtown Farmington merchants hope you'll slip into your faerie finery and join them Feb. 16 for the Sun, Moon and Stars Faerie Ball, held at Grand Celebrations on Grand River in Farmington.  The dance caps off the Farmington Faerie Gathering, which includes a faerie door scavenger hunt, Faerie Fayre and two faerie teas Feb. 14-16. Admission to the Ball, which is open only to those 21 and older, includes an open bar, light hors d'oeuvres, a costume contest and the crowning of a King and Queen. Farmington Faerie Gathering Includes Teas, Scavenger Hunt, Faerie Ball

The second annual gathering features activities all around downtown Farmington.

The Second Annual Faerie Gathering brings a variety of activities to downtown Farmington businesses Feb. 14-16.  Event organizers invite everyone to look for faeries in and around the following events: Faerie Door Scavenger Hunts for adults and children Players will follow directions on a play card to find faerie doors at participating merchants and collect clues that will lead them to the next door. With three days to complete the scavenger hunt, players have time to browse and shop along the way. Completed play cards will be entered into a drawing for prize baskets. Fabulous Faeries Found in Farmington

A gathering brought magical creatures young and old to American Legion Post #346 Saturday.

Faeries of all ages flocked Saturday to the Groves-Walker American Legion Post in Farmington, for a gathering sponsored by local businesses. In addition to a Fairy Tea Party and vendor fair at the post, activities around town included crafts, activities and contests at Farmington Community Library, Sunflour Bakehaus, The Vines Flower and Garden Shop, Victorian Lace Elegance and The Sacred Sage. Schedule Announced for Faerie Gathering Events

Activities will be held in and around Farmington, with the main event at American Legion Post #346.

Learn more about faeries, have an elegant tea and enjoy plenty of games as the Farmington Faerie Gathering gets underway this weekend.  Host businesses Off the Beaten Path Books & Cafe, The Vines and The Sacred Sage have announced a schedule of events for Saturday that starts at 10 a.m. with a panel discussion of popular superstitions about faeries, and the opening of vendor exhibits and a gaming room. At 11 a.m., faerie expert Hayley Jane will host a discussion, and the City of Farmington Hills Nature Discovery Center hosts an animal exhibit from noon to 3 p.m., with a frog wand craft.  Share tea and delicious desserts with faeries at 1 p.m., and stick around for "Are You a Werewolf?", hosted by Ted Ursus, at 3 p.m. The Faerie Ball, for …

Farmington Fairy Door Hunt Starts Tomorrow

The event is among weekend activities that include a dance for adults and a tea party for all ages.

As you're flying around Farmington tomorrow, be on the lookout for fairy doors.  These tiny portals will be carefully concealed inside or outside local businesses, waiting to be found by participants in a free Fairy Door Scavenger Hunt. The event begins at Off the Beaten Path Bookstore & Café, where you can pick up the hunt sheet and your first clue between noon and 11:00 p.m. on Thursday or Friday. Store owner Salathiel Palland said the Fairy Door scavenger hunt is designed to be "multigenerational". Clues are written as poems, and each one leads the team to the next door.  Palland said 18 businesses will have doors, and hunters who also spend $25 or more with the business will be eligible to win additional prizes.
