Hear Blackthorn Perform March 8-9 at the Farmington Players Barn in Farmington Hills

The popular Irish band, with a new addition, returns to the Farmington Players Barn.

The popular Irish band Blackthorn returns to the Farmington Players Barn Theater in Farmington Hills March 8 and 9, with a new addition. According to a press release posted at fhgov.com, David Mosher, winner of the Detroit Music Award for “Country Instrumentalist of the Year" and an accomplished and versatile strings player, joins the band for both performances.  "Blackthorn members have said that the Farmington Players Barn is their favorite place to perform, due to the proximity to the audience and the Barn’s wonderful acoustics," the release noted.  Tickets are $19, $17 for students and seniors and can be purchased on-line. Metro Jazz Voices Performs Love Songs in Farmington Hills Feb. 8

The concert is part of the City of Farmington Hills Cultural Arts Division concert series.

Metro Jazz Voices brings smooth renditions of romantic favorites like “I’ve Got You Under My Skin” and “Georgia", backed by one of the best rhythm trios in Detroit, to the Farmington Players Barn Theatre on Feb. 8, 7:30 p.m. Selections will include popular favorites and rare gems presented with a sophisticated four-part harmony and moving solos. “If I could summarize our style, I would say Manhattan Transfer mixed with the Great American Songbook,” said Carl Cafagna, the group’s tenor. Irish Group Blackthorn Performs in Farmington Hills

The popular group will play two shows at the Farmington Players Barn.

Michigan’s favorite Irish group, Blackthorn, returns to Farmington Players Barn at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, March 9 and Saturday, March 10. Blackthorn’s music captures the beauty, history, and legend of Ireland and its people, ranging from hilarious Irish songs to lively jigs and reels to haunting ancient airs. The group has appeared at the world-renowned Milwaukee Irish fest, as well as the prestigious Michigan Irish Festival. Blackthorn has recorded seven CDs, with tracks that include the Michigan Opera Theater and other groups. Lead singer Richard McMullan, who hails from Belfast, has been featured internationally during the broadcast of the Ryder Cup Opening Ceremony and has also toured with The Irish Rovers. Enjoy an intimate evening with music performed by soloists from the Michigan Opera Theatre (MOT) at the Farmington Players Barn at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 14, 2012. MOT concerts at the Players Barn, part of the City of Farmington Hills Cultural Arts Concert Series, have consistently sold out in previous years. The performance provides an opportunity to hear artists Maria Cimarelli, Betsy Bronson, Karl Schmidt, and Mark Vondrak performing a selection of well-known songs and hilarious skits.
