Duo Brings Free 'Trumpet Invasion' Concert to Nardin Park in Farmington Hills

Father and son team Rich and Brandon Ridenour perform an April 7 program that includes works by Debussy, Gershwin and others

A "Trumpet Invasion" arrives April 7 at Nardin Park United Methodist Church, with father and son duo Brandon Ridenour, trumpet, and Rich Ridenour, piano. The free concert, presented by the church's Music and Fine Arts Committee, begins at 2 p.m. with a program that includes compositions by Debussy, Bartok, Joplin, Gershwin and Prokofiev. Father and son team Rich and Brandon Ridenour have been entertaining on stage together since Brandon was 7. In addition to programming great music for all ages, Rich and Brandon weave a comedic presence only father and son can share on a stage. In 2006, at the age of 20, trumpeter Brandon Ridenour became the youngest member to ever join the prestigious Canadian Brass and won the International Trumpet Guild…

Farmington Area Weekend Events Include Concerts, Theater and Faeries

The Farmington Faerie Gathering is underway, with special events planned Friday and Saturday.

Look for faeries in and around downtown Farmington this weekend, during the Farmington Faerie Gathering. Events include a scavenger hunt that runs through Saturday, a Faerie Fayre at the Village Mall on Saturday and Faerie Teas and a Faerie Ball on Saturday. The Farmington Friends of the Library offers local families three opportunities to beat the winter blues with concerts by lively and talented musicians and singers. Free Holiday Show at Harrison High Features Farmington Community Band

Enjoy an afternoon of music Dec. 9 with the full band, as well as the 20-piece FCB Big Band.

Get in the holiday spirit with Farmington Community Band's “The Holiday Show”, presented Dec. 9, 3 p.m., at the Harrison High School Auditorium. Enjoy an afternoon of great musical entertainment featuring the 90-piece concert Band, under the direction of Damien Crutcher. They'll perform a rich collection of concert band classics and holiday themes, including such classics as Percy Granger’s “Lincolnshire Posy” and Leroy Anderson‘s “Sleigh Ride”. At intermission, the swingin’ 20-piece FCB Big Band will perform a vibrant collection of jazzy, holiday standards. The City of Farmington Hills summer concert series closes tonight, with a group of hometown performers.

Tonight marks the end of another summer concert series, as the Farmington Community Chorus performs in Heritage Park. Here's what else you should know The National Weather Service predicts another sunny day, with a high in the mid-80s and a low tonight around 63.  The 80-member Farmington Community Chorus closes out this summer concert series with a wide variety of musical selections. The concert starts at 7 p.m. at the park's amphitheater; rain location is the Costick Center on 11 Mile east of Middlebelt.  The Farmington Rotary and Xemplar clubs host this raffle each week, and the jackpot is at an all-time high. The Queen of Hearts Raffle sponsored by the Farmington Rotary and Xemplar clubs is heating up, with a jackpot climbing into five figures.
