Farmington Hills Woman Wins Hiller's Recipe Contest

Finalists included residents from Canton, Shelby Township and Brighton.

Farmington Hills resident Joni Pitt's OMG Peach Crostata took top honors in the We’re Cookin’ in Michigan Recipe Contest, held this weekend at the Buy Michigan Now Festival in Northville. The dish was baked with Michigan peaches and Michigan eggs, among other Michigan ingredients, and served with homemade peach ice cream. Pitt found out about the recipe contest from the Hiller’s website, where she often visits to clip her electronic coupons before she shops.  “On a whim, I entered the contest,” said Pitt, founder of OMG! Sweet and Savory. “I’m proof that an amateur cook can win a cooking contest with a delicious recipe. Trip to Grocery Store Could Help Feed a Child in Need

Hiller's Market and Hollywood Market are teaming up with hunger relief agencies to help feed more than 300,000 children healthy meals this summer.

Local grocery stores want to make sure the 300,000 southeast Michigan schoolchildren who receive free or reduced-fee lunches during the school year don’t go hungry this summer. With the launch of the 10-week Hunger Free Summer campaign,  Gleaners Food Bank and Forgotten Harvest are trying to provide an additional 2 million meals to children this summer. Every dollar raised during the summer campaign translates into eight nutritious meals for a child. The agencies have teamed up with Hiller’s Market and Hollywood Super Markets to raise funds and awareness about their summer program. Volunteers will be at various Hiller’s and Hollywood locations over the next few weekends accepting donations and handing out bracelets, balloons, stickers and …
