A big congratulations to our 2012 winner, who was chosen randomly from our weekly winners to take home a certificate for a two night stay on Mackinac Island. And thanks to all who entered.
The grand prize winner of the 2012 Your Patch of Michigan photo contest is Holly Awwad of New Baltimore, whose photo of two little girls getting ready to fish captured the hearts of our judges. Holly's photo was chosen randomly from our pool of weekly winners. She will receive a certificate for a two-night stay at Mission Point Resort on Mackinac Island (to be used before Oct. 31, 2013, and blackout dates and other restrictions may apply). The approximate retail value of the Grand Prize is $600. You can view all of our weekly champs so far in our gallery of winners. Thanks to all who have entered the contest this summer! A beautiful shot of the sun rising over Lake Orion won Week 13 of our Your Patch of Michigan Photo Contest.
The winner is in for week 13 of the Your Patch of Michigan 2012! Debbie Bloomgren took this shot of the sunrise over Lake Orion, and won our weekly contest! Debbie won a gift certificate for two weeks of boot camp at Starting Line Health & Fitness in Rochester Hills, valued a $100. Debbie says this of her photo: "That is one of my favorite photos. It was taken last fall. My husband had gotten me a new camera for my birthday to take pictures of our grandchildren. I happened to be up early having my coffee and was in awe of the beauty of the sunrise appearing before me. The winner is in for week 14 of the Your Patch of Michigan 2012! Ann Marie Eaton snapped the picture of her daughter and her friend at a summer concert at the Grosse Pointe War Memorial. Ann Marie says of the pic: "The photo was taken at the War Memorial during the summer concert series. This particular night was about mid august. My girlfriend and I had brought our girls to the concert. The girls (Eliza and Jordan) who are best friends, found their way up onto the wall looking out at Lake St Clair at sunset. The girls were gabbing, sipping lemonade and not aware of the picture taking. The smiles on their faces are always there, they are gabby, giggly girls. Celebrating friendship." A girls night out at Comerica Park won reader Trish Wicker the Your Patch of Michigan photo contest prize for week 12. Trish says of her photo: "It was taken August 3rd, Tigers vs Cleveland. Girls night out and my daughters 2nd Tigers game." With the hot rods of Dream Cruise driving all over town, this pairing of a classic car and historic home in Chelsea was our winner for week 11 of the 2012 Your Patch of Michigan photo contest. Reader Angela Powers says of her winning picture of an Auburn Boattail roadster and a historic home: "The photo was taken while we were on a day trip to Battle Creek. We, my husband, my 14 year old and 9 year old, stopped in Chelsea on the way home to do some geocaching. The color of the car complimented the house and I knew the photo would look really cool! It's hard to believe we're almost in cider mill season! This cutie patootie in a pumpkin patch is the winner for week 10 of the 2012 Your Patch of Michigan contest. Reader Jeff Olejniczak says of his winning picture: "This photo was taken at the Rochester Cider Mill (Rochester Hills, MI) in September 2011. It was my daughter's first trip to pick pumpkins and eat a doughnut. We ended up using this photo on her 1st birthday invitation."
