Purple Rose Theatre Comedy 'The Meaning of Almost Everything' Opens Jan. 18

Farmington resident Matthew Gwynn co-stars in the 13th play penned by theater founder and Hollywood actor Jeff Daniels.

The Purple Rose Theatre (PRTC) is stepping outside of its comfort zone in a departure from the more dramatic shows of its 2012 season with the world premiere of The Meaning of Almost Everything. The show is the 13th script written by Chelsea resident and actor Jeff Daniels, and features PRTC veteran actors Farmington resident Matthew Gwynn and Michael Brian Ogden of Berkley. "This show is a lesson in absurdity," director Guy Sanville said. "It's funny, it's poignant, and it connects with you on a different level." The Meaning of Almost Everything is one of Daniels’ most personal shows to date, Sanville said. Farmington Resident Featured in Jeff Daniels' 'The Meaning of Almost Everything'

The new comedy will enjoy a nine-week engagement through March 9 at the Purple Rose Theatre in Chelsea.

A new play by Hollywood actor Jeff Daniels will premiere at the Purple Rose Theatre (PRTC) in Chelsea beginning Jan. 10, 2013. The world premiere of The Meaning of Almost Everything will enjoy a nine-week engagement through March 9. Directed by Guy Sanville, the cast includes Matthew Gwynn of Farmington (Our Town, Growing Pretty) and Michael Brian Ogden of Berkley (Superior Donuts, White Buffalo, Escanaba in da Moonlight). The 15th play penned by PRTC founder Jeff Daniels, The Meaning of Almost Everything is one of Daniels’ most personal, and yet, most whimsical shows to date. With elements of slapstick, vaudeville, tragedy and farce, this exuberant romp of a play explores the pain and the joy of human existence. The story follows two men…
