Farmington Hills Restaurants Offer Special Treats for Valentine's Day

Two Farmington Hills restaurants are offering special treats to celebrate Valentine's Day.  While the holiday actually falls on Thursday, Morels restaurant on Northwestern offers a special "Lover’s Feast" on Friday and Saturday, starting at 7 p.m. The menu features Matt Prentice favorites like Oysters Rockefeller, USDA prime tenderloin and lobster bread pudding, with Morels’ Executive Chef, John Breeland, executing the five-course meal. Farmington Hills Council Approves Liquor License for New Restaurant

The former owner of Bombay Grille will open RAO Sports Bar & Grille in space formerly occupied by Players Billiards.

West Bloomfield resident Vijaya Rao, former owner of Bombay Grille on Orchard Lake in Farmington Hills, moved one step closer to opening a new restaurant Monday.  Farmington Hills city council members on Monday approved a liquor license transfer and new Sunday sales, outdoor service and entertainment permit for RAO Sports Bar & Grille, which is expected to open this spring in the former Players Billiards Bar & Grill location on 10 Mile Road east of I-275.  According to the license application, Rao will invest about $10,000 in renovations to the 4000-square-foot space. The application included a copy of the restaurant's proposed menu, which features soups and salads, burgers, pizza and entrees ranging from cajun alfredo chicken and fish …

New Farmington Restaurant Serves Up Mexican Food, Cooked to Order

Chulbu'ul opens with a menu that includes burritos, tacos, salads and more, made while you watch.

After months of construction and preparation, Chulbu'ul Mexican Grill opened Friday on Grand River in Farmington.  The small building next door to Grand One Hour Cleaners has undergone extensive renovations over the past year. The open layout offers customers the opportunity to watch while their food is being prepared.  Manager Emad AlBayrouti said all of the ingredients, from vegetables to grilled meats, are prepared fresh every day.  "Our recipes are not spicy, but they can be, by order," he said, noting the restaurant offers five types of salsa.  The menu includes more than a half-dozen kinds of burritos, burrito bowls, salads, quesadillas and tacos. These Farmington Area Restaurants Open Thanksgiving Day

You can get out of the kitchen and still enjoy a turkey dinner, or something completely different.

If cooking is not on your agenda Thanksgiving Day, these Farmington area restaurants will be open and serving everything from a traditional turkey dinner to Peking duck.  Ginopolis' Bar-B-Que Smokehouse  Open at noon, the restaurant will serve a limited menu featuring ribs, brisket, seafood and, of course, turkey with all the trimmings. Morels Adds Live Music, As Controversy Swirls Around the Farmington Hills Restaurant

Restaurateur Matt Prentice may be hampered by a non-compete agreement as he opens restaurants after a split with his business partner.

Popular local musician Mark Reitenga will be the first act to play Matt Prentice's new Farmington Hills restaurant, even as the restaurateur deals with a new controversy over Morels on Northwestern Hwy.  A conflict over the restaurant's opening led to Prentice to resign from Matt Prentice Group, which is now known as The Epicurean Group, in late March. While Morels moved forward, Crain's Detroit reported this week that Prentice may be subject to a noncompete agreement.  Crains Detroit also reported that Prentice will in August open a steak house next door to Morels. Prentice Plans a Michigan Menu for Morels in Farmington Hills

The restaurant is expected to open next month on Northwestern Highway.

When Matt Prentice walked in to the former Macaroni Grill restaurant building on Northwestern Highway in Farmington Hills, he knew he had found something special.  "Restaurateurs tend to look at restaurants as a man looks at a woman," he said. "This restaurant is a perfect 10."  Prentice closed a deal with the building's owner over breakfast late last month, and he expects to open the restaurant's doors sometime between March 15 and March 31. Around the first of March, he'll start hiring to staff Morels, to the tune of 100 jobs.  Prentice had been scouting locations for the re-opening of Morels, a Bingham Farms restaurant he closed in 2006 after a 16-year run, because of Michigan's flagging economy.
