Bright House, Busch's Make '12 Days of Giving' Delivery in Farmington Hills

The cable service invited Facebook users to take action that helped stock the Bountiful Backpack program and local food shelves Friday.

Farmington area Facebook users did a lot of "liking" and "sharing" last weekend, and on Friday, it all paid off. The City of Farmington Hills after school program benefitted from Bright House Networks 12 Days of Giving, which offered donations equal to the number of times certain photos were shared on the social media site. On Friday, Bright House and Busch's Fresh Food Market teamed up to deliver more than 3,700 canned and boxed food items that were, in turn, distributed to several local organizations. A Bright House truck brought food first to Farmington Public Schools Visions Unlimited, where students with developmental disabilities pack backpacks for a Farmington-Farmington Hills Foundation for Youth and Families program that provides …

How to Help the Hungry, Get Help in Farmington and Farmington Hills This Holiday Season

One in four Michigan children lives in poverty. In this season of being thankful and giving back, here are ways to help make others' holidays warmer.

The holiday season is a time of joy, and for the fortunate, of plenty. Sadly, hunger continues to be a problem, with one in four Michigan children living in poverty and nearly half qualifying for free or low-cost school lunches.  To help, Patch.com has launched an online food drive, with all of its 30 Michigan sites participating. Two Farmington Hills Catholic Churches Affected by Restructuring

The Archdiocese of Detroit may close or merge St. Clare of Assisi and Servant Church of St. Alexander.

Unless they can come up with a plan to repay debt owed to the Archdiocese of Detroit, The Servant Church of St. Alexander and St. Clare of Assissi Catholic churches in Farmington Hills may be forced to merge or close.  The Detroit Free Press reported this afternoon that the two parishes are included in a restructuring of more than 260 Catholic parishes in the metro Detroit area. Farmington-Farmington Hills Patch learned letters were read during Sunday mass informing parishioners of their church's fate. Both have until June 30, 2012 to come up with a repayment schedule.  According to the South Oakland action plan, posted on the Archdiocese of Detroit website, even parishes not affected by the threat of merger or closure have some work to do…
