Coach Todd Hoffmeyer says the club is open to boys and girls who are interested in learning more about the sport.
On a blustery Thursday night, the turnout for a Farmington Wrestling Club practice at Farmington High School was a little light. Boys worked together in small groups, practicing basic techniques taught by coach Todd Hoffmeyer of Farmington. Hoffmeyer said illness kept a number of kids at home, but he would still like to see many more involved in the fledgling club, which is open to boys and girls ages 6 to 14. "It's for kids that want to be introduced to the sport of wrestling in Farmington and Farmington Hills," said Hoffmeyer, a high school and college wrestler who lives in Farmington and has three children. The Mustangs sank all 10 free throws down the stretch and topped the Marlins 56-45 for a key home win.
The Marian High School Mustangs scored a big home win Tuesday night over rival Farmington Hills Mercy to improve to 4-2 in the Catholic High School League Central Division, good enough for first place. Following the 56-45 victory, the Mustangs share the division lead with Dearborn Divine Child, according to miprepzone.com. The Marlins fell to 3-3 in the CHSL Central Division. The Farmington High hockey team's winning streak comes to an end, while Harrison's girls basketball team lands the second spot in division standings.
The Farmington High hockey team's winning streak came to an end this week, but the news was not all bad for area sports teams. Here's what happened: Farmington hockey The Falcons winning streak came to a grinding halt Wednesday, with a 3-1 loss to Rochester Stoney Creek. The Falcons gave up two goals in the first period and tried to fight back with one in the second frame, when defenseman Austin Meltzer slapped the puck home from the blue line with assists from Nick Kozoro and Roman Firestone on a power play. The score stayed that way until late in the third period, when Stoney Creek scored on the empty net. The Falcons maintain their first place status in the OAA Red division with a 1-1-4 record, and 6 points. The Falcons are finally back…

The time has come again for students to return to school and if they are not already playing in a sport, it is likely they will participate in some type of recreational activity in the future. Recognizing some of the signs and symptoms of a concussion is extremely important, not only for coaches but also for the parents and student athletes as well. What is a concussion? Concussions are a type of injury caused by a blow or bump to the head that disrupts the way the cells in the brain normally work. The brain is comprised of soft tissue and is cushioned by spinal fluid. It is encased in the hard, protective skull. When a person gets a head injury, the brain can move around inside the skull and even bang against it. This can lead to …
