Will You Buy a New $1 Reusable Plastic Cup at Starbucks? Take Our Poll

The coffee company will begin offering the cups at stores in Farmington and Farmington Hills on Thursday.

Starbucks lovers will have a new way to sip their favorite beverages today, as the coffee company starts offering resuable plastic cups for $1.  According to a Jan. 2 report in the Detroit Free Press, the company aims to reduce the amount of waste produced by its paper and plastic cups. The reusable cups, which are white and bear the company logo, also qualify customers for a 10-cent discount the company already offers. To counter concerns about cross-contamination, Starbucks will clean the cups with boiling water before each new use, the Free Press reported.  Will you purchase one of the new reusable cups at either the Farmington or Farmington Hills Starbucks? I'm all for reusable cups & I bring my own cup to work, to meetings, & to coffee shops. I congratulate Starbucks for their initiative!!! However, a 10 cent discount is RIDICULOUSLY LOW! It should be at least a 25 cents discount, to give their customers an incentive to remember their cups. Many places charge only $1 for coffee in my reusable cup. Groups to Boycott Starbucks Over Stances on Gay Rights, Guns

Separate boycotts criticize coffee chain's positions on contentious issues.

Some religious and political groups are urging Starbucks customers to grab their morning coffee elsewhere in light of the company's stance on gay marriage and its policy on guns. USA Christian Ministries, a group boycotting Starbucks for its recent support of gay marriage in the state of Washington, said in a news release that the coffee chain's decision has angered Christians. "Christians are upset with Starbucks for turning against God," Steven Andrew, president of USA Christian Ministries, said. The group hopes that, with full support from Christians, Starbucks, which operates locations in Farmington and Farmington Hills, could lose up to 80 percent of its business. Starbucks joined Microsoft and Nike in publicly supporting gay marriage…
