Farmington-Farmington Hills Foundation Gala Auction Features Galapagos Trip

The National Geographic Society offers the winner an opportunity to join a photographer on the ship Endeavor.

A once-in-a-lifetime trip to the Galapagos Islands will among the fantasy trips up for auction at this year's Farmington-Farmington Hills Foundation for Youth and Families Heart and Soul Gala, held Feb. 9 at Sellers Buick GMC in Farmington Hills.  According to a press release, the winner and a companion will have a once-in-a-lifetime experience of joining a renowned National Geographic Society photographer on the Society's official ship Endeavor. Foundation Gala Honors Farmington Hills Residents Ken and Katherine Massey

The Farmington/Farmington Hills Foundation for Youth and Families presents the Riley Award for Altruism Feb. 9.

Farmington Hills residents Katherine and Ken Massey will receive the Riley Award for Altruism during the Farmington/Farmington Hills Foundation for Youth and Families 2013 Winter Gala on Feb. 9 at 6 p.m., at Sellers Buick GMC in Farmington Hills. In 2011, the Masseys created a foundation to honor the memory of their son, Graham E. Smith, who took his own life on Mother's Day that year. Their foundation has supported suicide prevention activities in the community.  “Katherine and Ken Massey have both been shining examples of just what the Riley Award for Altruism is all about, selfless people who lift the standards of our community higher without compensation and often without recognition,” said Sam Slaughter, the 2013 Gala Co-Chair.
