Reports on the party's Facebook page say callers from out-of-state give incorrect polling and candidate endorsement information.
Oakland County Democrats report tonight that they're getting "robocalls" with wildly inaccurate election information from people who claim to represent the Obama for America campaign and their own party. On the party's Facebook page, Birmingham resident Nancy Skinner posted a video she shared on YouTube.com with a caller saying that her polling place is the First Baptist Haitian Church, which doesn't exist in Birmingham. Patch has confirmed that the phone number mentioned in the call belongs to an Obama for America field office and has contacted the campaign to determine whether the calls actually came from Obama for America. While the Democrat running for the 37th District state House seat calls out her opponent, Republican Bruce Lilley says his campaign has nothing to do with the negative campaign tactic.
Another round of "robocalls," automated phone messages, hit the Farmington-Farmington Hills area this week, on the holiest day of the year for area Jews. And while incumbent State Rep. Vicki Barnett (D-Farmington Hills) blames her Republican opponent, Bruce Lilley, and his supporters, Lilley says the calls are not coming from his campaign – and he has no control over whoever is making them. Barnett, who is Jewish, said in a scathing press release Thursday that the timing of this week's calls was particularly offensive. “It’s hard to be surprised any more by how low my opponent and his supporters are willing to go, but the timing of this latest attack is inexcusable,” she said. “It demonstrates a complete lack of respect for a very large …

A robocall making the rounds in the Farmington area Wednesday accused State Rep. Vicki Barnett (D-37th District) of voting against a bill to require the pledge of allegiance in Michigan schools because it includes the word "God". Patch readers who reported receiving the call said it did not include any information that would identify the responsible group or individual. Barnett's challenger, Republican Bruce Lilley, said the call did not come from his campaign. Barnett, who vehemently denies the allegation, said she voted on principle against two House bills that would require schools to display a flag in every public school classroom and to ensure that every student has the opportunity to recite the Pledge every school day. Previously …

Ms. Barnett ... What's “inexcusable” is to falsely accuse a person of an action that he or she has nothing to do with, which is exactly what you have done to Mr. Lilley in this case. It is very bothersome that an individual would accuse anyone without any facts, let alone a Representative of our State falsely accusing her opponent. To me, that shows a total lack of character! Many of us are …   more ›
