The bank, which has a Farmington Hills branch, tells customers their accounts are secure.
WXYZ reports that Fifth Third Bank's website was attacked on Tuesday. Fifth Third has a branch in Farmington Hills, on 12 Mile Road. According to the report, hackers did not gain access to customer data. The attack denied service to customers, by flooding the site with traffic. On Tuesday, the bank posted the following message on its Facebook page: "We're actively monitoring and assessing delays on 53.com. This slowdown has not impacted customer accounts. We are working to restore online connectivity as soon as possible and will provide updates when available." The bank restored full service later the same day. Clarification: This article has been changed to reflect that the site was attacked, but not "hacked".
