UPDATE: Power Outage Closes Downtown Farmington Library, Businesses

Fitness 19 offers 'Power Outage Special' Monday.

UPDATE: A DTE Energy spokesperson tells the Detroit Free Press that those without power could be waiting a while for the lights to come back on.

The power company's outage map now lists restoration times as "not available". Between DTE and Consumers Energy, more than half a million Michigan residents remain without power, according to a Detroit Free Press report

Because crews are busy across the Midwest, "we expect the restoration to take several days,” spokesman Scott Simons said.

High winds that hit the Farmington area Monday closed down a number of downtown Farmington businesses and the Farmington Community Library Farmington branch.

A Farmington-Farmington Hills Patch Facebook fan spotted a "Power Outage Special" at Fitness 19, which is also without power. Stop by the gym at 23296 Farmington Rd. or call 248-615-1919 for information.

Suburban Ice in Farmington Hills cancelled Monday morning Open Skate and Sticks & Pucks. Skaters should keep an eye on the business Facebook and Twitter pages for updates on other cancellations.
