Great Farmington Hills Campout

Enjoy the great outdoors with your family at the Great Farmington Hills Campout.

Families can enjoy Nature Center tours, trail hikes, and free time with the family from 1 to 9 p.m. on Saturday. Participants can then choose to either camp out afterwards in their own backyards or stay in a pre-reserved campsite for an overnight adventure in Heritage Park. The deadline for reservations is June 4. The $25 fee includes the campsite, dinner, and pancake breakfast.

Campout fun is available to all participants, including both those who have booked a campsite and those who choose to head home for the night. Activities will include an outdoor expo from 5 to 8 p.m. with fish casting, rock climbing, crafts, a scavenger hunt, nature hikes, campfire songs and stories, and more.

Dinner is included only for families with a registered campsite, but concession items will be available for purchase at the Camp Store. The campout will end on Sunday with a pancake breakfast, which is available free to both Heritage Park campers and returning backyard campers.

Special thanks go out to event partners including Busch’s Fresh Food Market, which donates food for the event; LOC Credit Union, which sponsors several events including the Campout, Fly and Fry, and Hay Day; and to members of the Optimist Club, who cook, teach fishing skills, and will introduce a new Junior Naturalist Program in partnership with the Nature Center. Also new this year is a Campout partnership with the Michigan Department of Natural Resources, which will present the Recreation 101 program and offer free Hudsonville Ice Cream for everyone who shows up!

The Great Farmington Hills Campout is part of the “No Child Left Inside” initiative, which promotes opportunities for children and families to enjoy the outdoors. For more information or to reserve a campsite, call 248-473-1800 or visit www.F2H.org.
