Neighborhood Shop: Village Shoe Inn is a Familiar Farmington Landmark

The women's shoe store offers a wide range of selections at discounted prices.

Whether you own 100 pairs of shoes or 10, whether you are a shoe lover, or just loves comfortable shoes, a stop by in downtown Farmington is like a trip to the candy store—too many choices, but you can never leave empty-handed.

A part of the community for at least 35 years, the big yellow Village Shoe Inn sign on Grand River Avenue is one of the city’s landmarks.

Founded by Marianne Thibault, the store carries a wide selection of women's shoes for teens through adults, featuring the latest trends in casual and dressy styles. Name brands include Nine West, Anne Klein, Betsey Johnson and Life Strides.

High heels or flats, boots or walking shoes, there is something for every taste and budget. “We carry a little bit for everybody,” said Eve Cinato, Village Shoe Inn district manager.

While hundreds of shoes in one location may seem a bit overwhelming, the store is divided into easy to browse sections. Inventory is replenished weekly, Cinato said, so there's always something new to see.

And if that’s not enough, shoes are discounted by 20 to 60 percent. Shoppers can also find a large selection of handbags and accessories to complete their ensembles.

According to Cinato, The Village Shoe Inn is not just another store in downtown Farmington, it is a part of the community.

“I like Farmington because everybody is so friendly,” said Cinato. “People here want to make sure the downtown area is great.”

The Village Shoe Inn is open Monday, Wednesday and Saturday from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m.; Thursday and Friday from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. and Sunday from 12 p.m. until 5 p.m.
